About Hull Street Angels

Busy Princes Avenue

The Street Angels part is to provide a safe place and safe people for those who become vulnerable in any way on a Friday and Saturday 9pm - 1am.

Each volunteer has a reflective 'Street Angels' jacket so that they can be easily seen as a safe person to approach. The team then split into groups of two and patrol Princes Avenue and visit the pubs and bars.

Street Angels is set up by Princes Avenue Methodist Church as a way of making a positive difference down Princes Avenue on the night time. We work in partnership with, Community Cash, Humberside Police, City Safe, St. Johns Ambulance, Prestige Support, DOC, and Princes Avenue Traders to keep the streets and people of Hull safe on Friday and Saturday nights.

On Patrol

Volunteers are there to care for those in need, to provide a listening ear and to be a safe and approachable person. Work undertaken is talking to the people, offering water, creating links with the door staff, and offering first aid if needed. The volunteers also clear any glasses or bottles left on the pavement or road. We also offer disposable flip-flops to women who have taken off their high-heels and are walking in bare feet.

Free Flip Flops For Females !

Street Angels are based at Princes Avenue Methodist Church and is open from 9pm till 1am, providing a safe place for people to wait for friends or a taxi home. The night ends around 1am with a short debrief and prayer.

Why do we do it? Because we care and we want to make Princes Avenue a safe and friendly place. God is far too big to be kept in a church building. This means going to places where people are to make a positive difference.
